Unmetered VPS Traffic vs Unlimited Bandwidth: The Difference
Updated · Autdo Cloud
Unmetered transfer means a plan does not charge against a specified monthly data-transfer quota. It does not mean unlimited connection speed, exclusive use of an uplink, or permission to run any workload continuously.
Three separate limits
Port speed describes a network interface or uplink. A per-instance speed limit caps an individual VPS. A transfer allowance counts data over a billing period. These are different measurements and should be compared separately.
A VPS capped at 100 Mbps cannot download faster simply because its transfer is unmetered. It also shares physical infrastructure. Remote-server limits, routing, packet loss, disk speed and CPU can reduce application throughput below the configured cap.
Read units carefully
100 Mbps is about 12.5 MB/s before protocol overhead. Tools showing MiB/s use a different byte unit. A theoretical conversion is not a sustained-speed guarantee. Avoid interpreting a brief download burst as proof of long-term capacity.
How this applies to Autdo
The current Budget series is configured for up to 100 Mbps per VPS on a shared uplink with unmetered transfer. Other series have their own limits and may be sold out. A host's physical port speed must not be advertised as bandwidth dedicated to every guest.
Before moving a heavy workload, check the live plan, applicable service terms and the application's burst and sustained traffic patterns. CPU-intensive encryption may become a bottleneck before the network cap is reached.
See high-bandwidth plan selection and CPU load diagnosis. Check current specifications rather than relying on an old screenshot.
